Tom's develope as a meaningful member of his community began at age 7, when he first joined the Boy Scouts of America program as a Cub Scout.  Rising through each of the Cub Scout ranks, Tom later moved on to Boy Scouts.

As a Boy Scout, Tom earned 40 "Merit" badges and ultimately achieved Scouting's highest and most respected rank of Eagle Scout.
