"Along the Way" by Thomas A. Ross was published in December, 2020 and represents the second edition of PART I of his first book "Privileges of War."

"Privileges of War" told good stories of American service in South Vietnam. "Along the Way" updates all of the original stories and includes the development of the lifelong relationship that developed between the author and, Major Nguyen Quang Ngoc, the Vietnamese Camp Commander to whom he was a key adviser. This new book includes over one hundred new pictures that make it possible for the reader to see many of the people and places discussed in the book.

In 1966, Tom Ross left the carefree life of a college student and volunteered for military service in Vietnam. "Along the Way" follows the evolution of this young American from college student to seasoned military adviser with the 5th Special Forces Group, the elite unit as known as the "Green Berets." While serving his country, Lieutenant Tom Ross met and was supported by many others who were also serving their country. The stories told here are not the typical ones you hear about those who spent time in Southeast Asia.

If you know someone who served our country during the Vietnam War, this is a book you will want to share with that person. It is an inspirational firsthand account of some of the courageous and selfless deeds performed by the men and women who served or fought an unpopular war.
